practical information about Gavalochori

Gavalochori is one of the most beautiful and traditional villages of Apokoronas with interesting folk architecture and quite bright colors from nature, gardens, courtyards, terraces and doors. It is love from the first walk. In this traditional settlement, many interesting buildings are preserved, such as a two-aisled vaulted olive mill (17th century), the temples of Panagia and Agios Sergios, and many more that you can explore through our site.

how to get here

Gavalochori is 26 km southeast of the city of Chania. It is located 4 km from the nearest beach of Almyrida at an altitude of 80 meters.  It is 35 km from Chania airport (approximately 30′-40 ‘), 20 km (20′-25’) from the port of Souda Chania and 120 km from Heraklion airport (2 hours) by car.  The city of Rethymnon is 35 km away.  However the route is always amazing having the deep blue sea on one side and the green flowers and trees on the other.  There is daily bus service to and from Gavalochori – Chania.  We will inform about the hours later as they change due to the season.
